Truth-in-Sentencing

Except for the offenses listed below, all other felony sentences are served at 50% of the time imposed. The 50%-off rule is sometimes referred to as day-for-day good conduct credit.  In 1998, the Illinois truth-in-sentencing law went into effect. The truth-in-sentencing law changed the actual time a person must serve in prison for the offenses specified below.
